Elliott Lunson (USA-born, 1979, in Midland, Texas, where he resides today) is a contemporary artist who works with a variety of mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and painting. Currently, his major creative interests combine oil-based materials on paper with evolving large-scale portrait imagery.
A unique metamorphosis takes place with Elliott's characters, as he thoughtfully, with great creative care, cuts them apart and reconfigures them.
Since Elliott's childhood, he has had an insatiable desire, a need, to create art. Once he started walking, his artist-mother had a huge challenge keeping him out of her art materials and from combining his own marks with hers. From that time on, he has followed his artistic passion and has gained vast recognition along the way.
Elliott studied art at Midland College and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) in Odessa, Texas. Throughout his academic career, he received numerous scholarship awards. He earned the Bachelor of Art degree at UTPB in 2004, graduating Cum Laude. He then went on to teach all-level art for several years at the private college-preparatory Trinity School in Midland.
Elliott's artwork, during his schooling and currently, has been shown locally in the Midland-Odessa area of West Texas, in Hawaii and New York. And he is always actively in search of new contemporary locations to exhibit. His work has been acknowledged through many diverse awards and has been showcased in the New York-based Direct Art Magazine. Just recently, Elliott was selected as Midland's 2009 Distinguished Celebration Artist of the Year. His patrons’ appreciation for contemporary art has won his art permanent exhibition in their homes, as he continues to be inspired by family, friends, fellow artists, music, nature
and by his fascination with life. |
